After care for your nails

We want your manicure to be as long lasting as possible, and your natural nails to be as healthy as possible. We recommend following the below tips
and advice.

Use cuticle oil & moisturiser daily
Massage cuticle oil and use hand moisturiser daily. Not only will this ensure your manicure looks fresh for weeks but it will nourish the root of the natural nail allowing it to produce stronger, more flexible and non-flaky natural nails. Cuticle oils and hand moisturiser can be purchased in studio.

Your nails are jewels not tools
Gel manicures/ BIAB Overlays/ Extensions are all good for adding extra strength to your nails but they will not make them indestructible. Take great care of your nails as it will massively influence how long your manicure will last.

Be careful when doing DIY tasks do not use your nails of screwdrivers/ opening cans of pop use a fork instead/ picking stickers and cello tape.

Be especially careful in the first 24 hours after application and avoid intense heat during this period (e.g. saunas, hot bath, or sunbeds)

Avoid putting your hands in water for long periods of time (e.g baths, jacuzzi), especially after the first 24 hours. This may cause lifting.

If you have gel extensions take care around extreme heat or naked flames as nail extensions may melt.

Wear your marigolds
Dyes/tints in food, beauty & hair products or biro pen can cause discolouration. Wear gloves or clean nails after use with a small amount of rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover and cotton wool.

Be careful when using suntan oils/repellents as some formulations can cause damage to gel polish.

Avoid drying chemicals like alcohol or bleach in beauty & cleaning products. Use protective gloves for housework, gardening DIY etc as household chemicals will strip natural nails and skin of natural oils, thus, affecting it's look and condition.

Regular maintenance
We advise you leave no longer than 3-4 weeks between appointments, nails will become weaker as the product grows out and will be prone to lift and break after this time due to wear & tear and incorrect structure. Do not miss your regular maintenance appointments to ensure your nails stay looking at their best.

Allergies and reactions
If any adverse reaction occurs: rash, redness, inflammation of any kind around the nails please contact your GP immediately.

No picking
Do not pick or peel product from your nails as this will remove the upper layer of your natural nails and cause damage, which can sometime be painful, sensitive and leave them very thin.

Book a removal
We recommend booking an appointment for all repairs or removals – home removals can could cause a lot more damage than you realise if it isn’t done correctly. Book in with one of our nail technicians for ‘Gel removal’ and  ‘Bare Manicure’ to keep your natural nails in good shape.

Lifting issues
If lifting can be seen please contact us as water and dirt can get under it and cause an infection.

Applying polish
Regular nail polish can be applied over the gel polish if you wish to change the colour temporarily, and can be removed with non-acetone nail polish remover without affecting the gel underneath. Always use a base coat to avoid yellowing.

Home nail prep
Avoid filing your nails and pushing your cuticles back, as this will break the seal of the gel and can lead to chipping.
